Description
This spicy jalapeno cheddar sausage shrimp ramen is a creamy, spicy, and savory dish that combines juicy shrimp, smoky sausage, melted cheddar, and fiery jalapeños, transforming humble ramen noodles into something spectacular.
Ingredients
4 packs Ramen noodles (discard seasoning packets)
1 pound Large shrimp, peeled and deveined
12 ounces Smoked sausage, sliced
2–3 medium Fresh jalapeños, sliced
2 cups Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
4 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
4 cups Chicken or seafood broth
1 cup Heavy cream
3 tablespoons Butter
2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
Salt and black pepper to taste
Green onions, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Step 1: Bring a large pot of water to boil. Cook the ramen noodles according to package directions, typically 3-4 minutes. Drain and set aside. Discard those seasoning packets
- Step 2: Heat a large, deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add one tablespoon of butter. Once melted and sizzling, add the sliced sausage. Cook for about 4-5 minutes until the sausage develops a nice brown crust. Remove and set aside
- Step 3: In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of butter. Toss in the shrimp, seasoning with salt, pepper, and half the Cajun seasoning. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside with the sausage
- Step 4: Add the remaining butter to your skillet. Sauté the minced garlic and sliced jalapeños for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant
- Step 5: Pour in the broth and bring to a gentle simmer. Add the remaining Cajun seasoning and smoked paprika. Let it bubble for 3-4 minutes to concentrate the flavors
- Step 6: Reduce heat to medium-low. Stir in the heavy cream, mixing well. Gradually add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring constantly until melted and smooth
- Step 7: Return the cooked ramen noodles, sausage, and shrimp to the skillet. Toss everything together until well coated in the sauce. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes
- Step 8: Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions
Notes
For a milder version, remove jalapeño seeds or use just one pepper.
Reserve some pasta cooking water before draining your noodles to adjust sauce consistency.
