Ingredients
2 ¼ cups All-purpose flour
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon Salt
1 cup Unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup Granulated sugar
¾ cup Packed brown sugar
2 Large eggs
2 teaspoons Pure vanilla extract
2 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with both sugars until light and fluffy
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined
- Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula
- Scoop the dough into balls about 2 tablespoons each and place them on the prepared baking sheets
- Shape each dough ball into a heart by creating an indent at the top and pinching the bottom
- Bake for 9-11 minutes until slightly underdone in the centers
- Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack
Notes
Use room temperature butter for best results.
Chill the shaped dough for 15 minutes before baking if in a warm climate.
Reshape cookies immediately after baking if needed.
