Ingredients
8 slices Thick-sliced bread (brioche or challah)
4 Large eggs
1 cup Heavy cream
1/2 cup Whole milk
1/4 cup Granulated sugar (for custard)
2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamo
1/4 teaspoon Salt
4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
1/2 cup Brown sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Step 1: Whisk together eggs, heavy cream, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a large shallow bowl until completely smooth
- Step 2: Arrange bread slices in a large baking dish and pour the custard mixture over the bread. Let each slice soak for about 3-4 minutes per side
- Step 3: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add one tablespoon of butter
- Step 4: Place 2-3 soaked bread slices in the hot skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brow
- Step 5: Transfer cooked slices to a baking sheet and keep warm in a 200°F oven while finishing cooking
- Step 6: Preheat the broiler and sprinkle brown sugar evenly over each slice of French toast
- Step 7: Place the baking sheet under the broiler and watch carefully as the sugar caramelizes in 1-2 minutes
- Step 8: Let the crème brûlée French toast cool for about one minute before serving
