Ingredients
2 cups All-purpose flour
1 tablespoon Baking powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 cup Cold unsalted butter (cubed)
1 1/2 cups Sharp cheddar cheese (shredded), divided
3/4 cup Whole milk
8 ounces Lump crab meat (picked over)
4 ounces Cream cheese (softened)
2 tablespoons Green onions (minced)
1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
1/4 teaspoon Garlic powder
1 teaspoon Fresh lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
- Prepare the crab filling by mixing cream cheese, half the crab meat, green onions, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, and lemon juice in a bowl
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs
- Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar and then add the milk, mixing until just combined
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut out rounds with a biscuit cutter
- Place half the biscuit rounds on the baking sheet, spoon crab filling onto each, and top with another biscuit round. Seal the edges
- Brush the tops with milk or melted butter and sprinkle with remaining cheddar
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving
Notes
For mini versions, use a smaller cutter and reduce baking time by 3-4 minutes.
You can freeze unbaked biscuits and bake them directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
